RSPNA Minutes

1. Meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM

2. Attendees introduced themselves, and a sign-up sheet was circulated.

3. Announcement: On December 6, at 6 PM, 5th District police will talk to those interested in forming a Neighborhood Block Watch. Ray Robakowski (935-7258) is the new Neighborhood Liaison Officer. Questions were asked, and volunteers were solicited.

4. Report: the Residential Parking Program (reserving spots for residents) will not extend to RSPN for now.

5. Discussion of future issues:

            a. Joan Moore volunteered to take minutes.

            b. Funds (i.e. membership “dues”) were discussed. They can be used for the web site, for a newsletter, for parties, and to reimburse the Urban Ecology Center for use of their space.

            c. It was agreed that the 4th Tuesday of each month would be RSPNA’s meeting day, with suggested speakers/topics as follows:

l/23: Janet Grau, DCD rep to the University Ngbd Assn and to the Northeast Side Plan Advisory Group, can speak about both groups

2/27: Kay Baldwin and Else Ankel from Murray Hill and Cambridge Woods NAs.

3/27: County rep about rain gardens and downspout disconnects

4/24: DPW rep about neighborhood clean-up, to coincide with Earth Day (4/22): It was suggested that clean-up be planned for late May to coincide with the end-of-semester student exodus, and that landlords be alerted.

5/22: Ken Leinbach or other Urban Ecology Center rep on natural beauties in RSPN.

               6/26: Elections

7/??? Party. Discussion about location (block party, park), etc. Reminder of Cambridge Woods February chili party.

6. Neighborhood Problems

Discussion of leaf clearance on streets: Ms. Kinis complained to DPW, and was told that 286-8282 (‘0' for operator assistance) can be called (after 11/15) for specific leaf and sewer cleanouts. Signage (e.g. “Temporary No Parking”) should be re-implemented. Ms Kinis took specific addresses and will contact D’Amato.

Discussion of Riverside Park: Lights should be on: MPS is in control. Trash clearance is better in the Park, possibly because of Ecology Center volunteers.

7. Meeting adjourned at 7:30.
