Lambades (Decorated Candles) for Weddings

Lambades or labades (labathes) (decorated candles) are traditionally used Greek Orthodox and Eastern Orthodox wedding ceremonies. Grecian Imports has been designing custom decorated lambades for weddings for over 30 years.

In Orthodox weddings, the number of candles you will need for your ceremony will depend on the procedures followed by your church. It may be as few as two or as many as four. At the very least you will need a pair for the bride and groom. The candles are typically joined by a ribbon to symbolize the union of the couple, however this detail can also vary between churches and your nationality. Serbians for example do not join their candles together, while Greeks typically do.

Always, consult with your priest first to see how many you will need, if they should be joined, and if there are any size requirements or limitations.
